EEXI Retrofit Engineering

EEXI Retrofit Engineering

We offer retrofit designs for Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) compliant equipment installations.

The Convention on the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) and the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) rating system was adopted in 2021 and will apply from 2023. This has forced ship operators to take actions considering compliance with EEXI and CII by limiting engine power may be the first thing to consider. There are no upfront costs, but there are concerns that logistics may be slowed down due to reduced operating speed. The loss of profit is immeasurable as the years of operation increase.

We believe it is better to install EEXI compliant equipment to reduce running costs and avoid logistical disruption.

As with the BWMS and SOx scrubber retrofits, ships are scanned using a 3D laser scanner, converted into a 3D model and then retrofit design is done using 3D CAD software. High precision design is achieved by using the latest 3D laser scanner, introduced this year, which has a lesser margin of error when compared to its predecessors. The scanning speed has also been significantly increased and the work can be completed quickly. Thus, the new scanner is a valuable asset for short berthing container ships to complete the scanning faster without disrupting the ships schedule.

We provide quality designs based on our experience in designing ship conversions and retrofits with a particular focus on environmental considerations.
